Metamorphosis & Migration: Days of the Dead

Oct. 18, 2017–Jan. 14, 2018

Days of the Dead is a time-honored way to celebrate the cycles of life that connect us all. Every year, OMCA hosts a lively community celebration in honor of this tradition, and every two years presents a special exhibition exploring related themes of ritual and remembrance. This year, the Museum is proud to present Metamorphosis & Migration: Days of the Dead, a unique, multidisciplinary exhibition organized by guest curator Evelyn Orantes. Using the motif of the migratory Monarch Butterfly, Orantes and the participating artists examine how the species’ ritual migrations, border crossings, and new beginnings are defining themes of Days of the Dead.
