Take Root: Oakland Grows Food

Urban farms and gardens are rich resources for Oaklanders seeking access to fresh food. Not only do urban gardens empower residents to connect with their natural environment, they help enrich the fabric of the greater community. A new exhibition in the Gallery of California Natural Sciences sheds light on grassroots movements to cultivate our own backyards while preserving important cultural traditions.
